Ella's First Beach Trip

We went on our first family beach trip last week to Sandestin.  My sister Tammy and brother-in-law Matt have a condo there so we and their three boys went on a little 4 day vacation. Our drive there was a little over 7 hours so we took a chance and timed it to go when it was around Ella's bedtime.  We had never driven with her at night so we knew it could end up a disaster.  Fortunately, she did great! She cried a couple times on the way there but slept the whole way back.  UNfortunately, a tropical storm came and it rained 90% of our trip.  Talk about a bummer, I guess that's what you get for planning a trip almost a year in advance and constantly looking forward to it.  I only got to lay out one time for less than 30 minutes.  It's safe to say I didn't come back with that sun-kissed glow I had imagined.  Even with the messy weather we still had a great time and ate lots of great food!  Lots of pictures to prove it!

Don't forget the puffs mommy
If only I could go back to that moment and tell myself not to pack 3/4 of the things I did because of the storm.  Aaahhhh, that would have been so nice...

Our first night there we went to Baytowne Wharf and ate at Acme Oyster House

This is the only picture I have of Ella at the pool.  I thought I was going to have more opportunities to take more, but tropical storm Lee spoiled those plans

None of us got the chance to go to the beach because of the weather. We really wanted Ella to see the ocean though, since it was her first time, so when there was a break in the rain we took her.

The second night we all went to Louisana Lagniappe to eat. MMmmmm!
The Gerber Puffs were a lifesaver at the restaurants!

On Saturday, Alabama and Auburn had their kickoff games.  Here is a little taste of our gameday experience. Don't get too jealous now.
Poor Matt, not sure how much he actually got to watch

Tammy and Matt stayed with Ella Saturday night and let me and Sloan got out to eat.  I had to document this because it was the first time since Ella was born that we went out to eat by ourselves! We were beyond excited!
