This past weekend we had a few visitors. Tammy and Tyson surprised us Saturday and stayed until Monday and Bobby and Kaylin came Saturday night. We love having visitors and so does Ella. We all, except for the babies, stayed up Saturday night till almost two in the morning playing games we made up ourselves, talking and laughing. If they only knew how much the small things like that warm my soul and make me so happy these days. It is hard being away from my family, who I use to see everyday, but it makes the times we do see each other so much more special! Love you guys!!
So, Ella is not even 7 months old yet and she is about to take off! I don't know why we even have a play mat anymore because she never stays on it! The days of us laying her down on the floor and walking or looking away are over I'm afraid and the days that many parents have warned us about are upon us. We haven't even baby proofed the house yet, I thought we still had a little while! This is all happening too fast, I'm not ready! She hasn't completely gotten the "proper" crawl down yet but she gets closer to it everyday. Here is a little video:
Sloan, Ella and I went to Mobile last weekend for Sloan's best friend Matt's wedding. It is about a 7 hour drive from Murfreesboro so we split it up by staying in C'burg with Sloan's parents Thursday night. On the way home Sunday though, we drove the whole way back and Ella did surprisingly good until about the last 20 minutes; she couldn't take the car seat any longer!
We had our first taste of a banana at Big Mal and Ellie's.
It was a big hit!
At the hotel Ella loved hanging with Big Mal while he got his shoes shined!
Ready for the wedding!
Sloan and his friend Brad.
Sloan getting down on the dance floor!
Ella dancing with Daddy.
Ella met my friend Lauren for the first time! We were excited to see her, she lives in Biloxi, MS.
The happy and beautiful couple, Matt and Eleanor!
It was one of the best weekends we've had in a LONG time! A first for us, Sloan and I actually got to hang out two nights in a row baby free after Ella went down for bed. Thank you Malley and Ellen!! The wedding was so beautiful and we were so happy for Matt and Eleanor! Congratulations!!
Time, please slow down! I know time will only speed up though and before we know it our half a year old girl will be a year old! Can't think about that though or I will get a little depressed, but I do wish I could keep Ella at this age for so long! I know that before long she will be on the move and won't want us to hold and love on her as much as she does now. Ok, pity party over with. On a lighter note, Ella is such a happy baby with so much personality. I feel like she is growing up so fast and doing something new everyday! The day after Ella turned 6 months she had a doctor's visit...
6 Month Checkup:
(June 30, 2011)
Weight: 13lbs 8.5oz (7%)
Length: 26" (60%)
Head: 41 cent.
(I need to add, too, that a few hours after getting shots she got really fussy. This also happened after her 4 month shots.)
Sleep: Sleep pattern is still about the same as last month. Bedtime is about 7:20-7:30 and she wakes up at about 7:30-8:00. Still takes two naps during the day. First one around 9:30 or 10:00 and second one around 1:30 or 2:00.
She tried formula for the first time and it has gone great. We add it to her cereal now to get the extra calories (Dr. thinks she needs to gain a little weight).
She is starting to sit up so well! Still a little wobbly sometimes and if she gets distracted she's a goner, but other than that she's doing great!
This girl is going to be crawling soon! She gets up on her hands and knees on occassion and has actually crawled some! She doesn't do it consistently but she is getting close. If she is on her stomach she can scoot around in circles to get the toy she wants.
Another first is that she sat in a restaurant highchair for the first time.
She is still loving her exersaucer.
She will now reach for you to hold her if you reach out for her to come to you (so sweet by the way).
Here is a little video of her sitting up (and now apparently learning how to bang on things).
